  • She points to the height sign. Yeah, you know this is not going to be good once Crankenstein learns of this! You see in this image how Santat uses the light to contrast mood and that relentless bright (just short of too much) and cheeriness earns my sympathy.

If you haven’t read this book you are missing a treat! I ordered this book recently with my Scholastic Books order. I loved the title and of course who could resist this cover. The children loved the simple story and everyone can relate to being cranky!! At least I know I can… Some days we feel crankier than others but this little Crankenstein isn’t happy with his part in the school Valentine’s Day Play until he meets a soul mate. Then it is love go awry but so silly. This is one of those books I can see myself sharing for many years. Since I know without a doubt that I am in love with A Crankenstein Valentine, I couldn’t resist creating a craftivity for this book.

    Price Paid:  $50.00 from ebay

    Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 15" High voltage Dr. Crankenstein

    Strengths:
None they sound like crap and don't even get low.

    Weaknesses:
Meant for a gymnasium, not for a car unless you like to hear tinny bass.

    Summary:
I bought 2 brand new 15" Dr. Crankenstein subs off ebay for $25.00 each. I was very disapointed with these subs, they got loud but sounded like crap. I think these subs are just a PA type sub that are meant for gymnasiums, as they were loud but very tinny with a lack of bass output. My old 15" Phoenix gold sub blew these two out of the water, in both output and sound quality.

My three year-old adores this book (and we do too). The illustrations are wonderful and the story is hilarious. It's also an excellent teaching tool; when my son begins to throw a fit, we ask if he is becoming a Crankenstein. Either he calms down and denies it or he admits that he is being a Crankenstein and starts to explain what has frustrated him. This book has quelled so many tantrums in our household it amazes me that some of the other reviewers didn't care for it.

Nobody can forget the day Crankenstein Meets Biker Bride created by our own Derek Yaniger! This collectable three color silk screened serigraph is printed on French heavyweight archival colored paper and measures an impressive 17" x 20.5" all signed and numbered by the artist in a limited edition of 60.

‘Crankenstein’ and ‘Zombelina’ - The New York Times

"Whoa. Be prepared for the intense frustrations, the moody outbursts and the green scowls of Crankenstein...Each setting reveals sly comic elements that both kids and their grown-ups will appreciate. Readers will laugh out loud...Get ready to read this aloud a lot. "
- KIRKUS

"Sometimes-when you have to go to school, when you have to take cough syrup-all there is to say is "MEHHRRRR!"... This is a No, David! for slightly older kids..."
