This is one ultra-violent movie, typical of a Martin Scorcese gangster film. Strangely, the brutal violence is somehow balanced by the "normal world" scenes with Ray Liotta, who plays an FBI agent. Asian actors usually don't wow me with their acting performances, but Eugenia Yuan's portrayal of "Snake Head Mama" made me want to rewatch this one scene with Liotta's character a few times. Moviegoers may not like it too much, but Revenge Of The Green Dragons is a thought-provoking and disturbing look into gang culture and human trafficking, and, like Goodfellas and The Departed, the movie is based on true events.

I’m a big fan of Lau’s work–which also includes the series that reignited Hong Kong gangster movies in the post-John Woo era, the update on wuxia films , and the Pan Asian take on , not to mention older flicks like or newer epics like –and actually interviewed him years ago back when I was the editor of Giant Robot magazine. Once again Lau was very cool, this time accompanied by Revenge of the Green Dragons writer/co-director Andrew Loo (above, in hoodie),

Revenge of the Green Dragons is an ambitious film for sure with a fascinating subject matter but in the end, it’s also uneven. The performances are least half-decent and the always reliable Ray Liotta lends it some weight, though the bulk of the picture is led by Justin Chon and Kevin Wu.

Revenge of the Green Dragons Review - IGN

While the trailer looked promising, especially since it’s directed by Andrew Lau of the glorious Infernal Affairs… I found Revenge of the Green Dragons kinda meh…mixed with a little huh? and a healthy dose of blue balls (on my part).
